Cherokee Nation Businesses has launched Cherokee Nation Waste Management, a new company to explore recycling and green technologies, and provide northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas with an environmentally friendly solution to waste disposal. One function of the company will be investigating trash to energy technologies.

Even though the actual birth date of Sequoyah is not known, the year is believed to fall between 1760 and 1765. Cherokee traditionalists celebrate his birth each year on July 19, also the birthday of both Redbird and Lucy Smith.
